David spoke the words of this song to the Lord in the day that the Lord delivered him.
Whether you feel afraid, lonely, hopeless, discouraged, or betrayed, the Psalms ae a wellspring of comfort. Why? Because the refreshment of the Spirit flowed from David’s pen as he faced some very difficult challenges buy trusted in God. David focused on the lord as He waited for Him to comfort, deliver, forgive and provide for him.
And the Holy Spirit of God still speaks to our hearts through what David discovered. The key, of course was that he sat and listed to the Lord. WE would be wise to do the same.
In Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis wrote:
“The real problem of the Christian life comes… the very moment you wake up each morning. All your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists simply in shoving them all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in. “
Friend, don’t miss God. Slow down, listen to Him and discover the comfort, strength, and encouragement David enjoyed.
Pray: Jesus, I am listening. Speak to me, my Savior. Amen
