Lisa Young is the founder and servant of People for CHRIST and the heart behind the PRAY Billboard Mission. For over 40 years, Lisa and her husband have called the small town of Martinsville, Indiana their home. She is a devoted wife, a proud mother of three, and a grandmother of two. She now dedicates all her time to spreading the LIGHT of JESUS CHRIST — and that journey began with a miracle.
In 1990, Lisa’s life was forever changed by a horrific car accident. Less than a mile from her home, her vehicle was completely impaled by a 100-foot guardrail. Her pelvis was crushed, her leg nearly severed, and her life hung by a thread. She was life-lined to the hospital where doctors told her husband she wouldn’t survive the night. But GOD had other plans.
Lisa said she knew she was dying. Amid the unbearable pain, she remembers praying, “LORD, please let me live to raise our children.” She could feel the lifeblood draining from her — and yet, she was filled with peace. JESUS was right there with her. HE spared her life.
Though Lisa now lives with permanent disabilities, she was given the strength to complete her first earthly mission: raising her family. Looking back, she realizes that had she died that night, she would have gone to hell. That truth changed everything.
Fast forward to 2020, during the COVID lockdowns. Lisa was deeply troubled by the darkness and fear she saw rising worldwide. She cried out to GOD: “This world has gone mad; You must do something!” And in that moment, the HOLY SPIRIT spoke boldly: “I’VE GOT THIS, YOU NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON SAVING SOULS.” Lisa asked how and the reply was, “BILLBOARDS.” She asked what HE wanted on the Billboards, and HE said, “PRAY, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.”
GOD had now given Lisa a mission with no funding and no experience, yet HE has been faithful to open door after door.
The LORD said put up PRAY Billboards across America, and that is what they are doing. They have placed 129 PRAY billboards across 18 states, reaching more than 3 million drivers. Now Lisa understands why the LORD said: “Billboards.”
